It’s been a year since Sandy swept the coast and left devastation in her wake, and a year since people flocked from all over the country to help those affected. Not all of those volunteers have left, and at least one has no intention of packing it in anytime soon.
Sandy was the deadliest and most destructive storm of the 2012 hurricane season. It was also the second-costliest hurricane in U.S. history. Monday marks six-months since the Superstorm struck our area.
During Superstorm Sandy, many firefighters responded to emergencies while their own homes were being ravaged. Now New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is responding to their needs with a program connecting firefighters who still need help rebuilding their homes with other firefighters who have time and skills to volunteer.
