WFUV's Assistant News and Public Affairs Director and morning news anchor, Robin Shannon, was literally born into music. Robin, a full-blown Jersey girl from Red Bank, grew up in Jazz musician Count Basie's old house; it seems only natural that she arrive here at WFUV.
Robin's plunge into the world of radio relied on fate. Originally planning to make films in Georgia, a family emergency brought Robin back to New Jersey and a business reporter friend persuaded her into radio. She hasn't looked back since.
"Radio is a great companion," Robin says. "The right combination of songs can create the soundtrack for my day."
Robin joined WFUV after a four year tenure at NJN Public Radio, where she was appointed to the dual positions of Morning Edition host and reporter. Robin previously served seven years as Morning Edition host and Public Affairs Director at Tinton Falls, New Jersey's WBJB-FM. She also holds a Master of Arts in Corporate and Public Communications from Monmouth University.
Robin is excited about her opportunities at the station. "Everyone's heard of WFUV," Robin says. "It has a long and attractive history of breaking or bringing to the forefront some of the best artists around."
Along with her News Department duties, you can hear Robin as one of the co-hosts of Saturday morning's Fordham Conversations program, bringing the research and achievements of Fordham community members to the public.
When Robin isn't busy indulging in her passion for both music and news, she likes to read and share her knowledge of communications through mentoring young adults. She currently lives in Mercer County, NJ.
