What's the biggest misconception your fans or the media have about you?

I think I got painted early on as being kind of melancholy. My band and I we're laughing our heads off most of the time. There might have been a couple of sad albums early on in my career, but that's just because of whatever was going on in my life at the moment. For the most part I've written really hopeful songs and tried to be a full fledged human being. I'm not just a master of one emotion. That's the thing that dogs me all the time, sad writer. It makes me think they haven't listened to my records.

What wacky thing would you do if you had the time, guts or resources?

Walk the Appalachian Trail.
