The memorial foundation turns a tragedy into something beautiful.
The president of the 9/11 memorial foundation says a place of tragedy has been transformed into a "place of beauty'' in honor of those who died.
The 9/11 memorial plaza in Lower Manhattan opened to the public on Monday.
Joe Daniels says it provides a new vision to people around the world who have seen "very difficult'' images of ground zero.
Families of victims were allowed to visit the memorial on Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the attack.
Daniels says it's also important for the public to have a place to come together.
