Allen Stone has been making a name for himself the old-fashioned way by hitting the road and playing live as often as possible. Over the last decade, he’s built a loyal following with his live shows, clearly at the forefront of his popularity. It’s his ability to relate and engage on a personal level, though, that has earned him such a dedicated fanbase.

We saw that firsthand when Stone brought his band to Rockwood Music Hall for an exclusive show for WFUV Marquee Members. That show was a fitting end to a packed day. Not only had the band already played NBC's "Today" earlier in the morning, they also ventured over to Katz’s Deli for some pre-show grub.

We talked about his journey in music, and on this particular day, and what his new album, Building Balance, means to him as an artist and as a human being.
