In the spirit of music discovery which guides WFUV, our DJs offer their favorite new artists on the cusp of making it to the next level.

Lead guitar is a boys club, but Amber Coffman broke that glass ceiling in her time as guitarist for Dirty Projectors. The Austin native has relocated from Brooklyn to L.A., and her solo debut, City Of No Reply, is due in early 2017.

Amber caught my ear with the advance song “All To Myself,” which is a dead ringer for the 1978 Walter Egan and Stevie Nicks vehicle “Magnet And Steel.” And what’s wrong with that? I love it when artists express our deep shared connection to timeless pop music.
