Cheers for Glen Hansard

Bringing heart, soul and voice to Holiday Cheer for FUV on 12/10: Glen Hansard.

Sure, we all loved Once (the movie), and that great song that won him an Oscar. But that's just a small piece of a career that brought Glen Hansard from his teenage busking roots in Dublin to stages all over the world.

It's been well over 20 years since The Frames started their run as one of Ireland's leading rock bands, with Glen at the helm and eight-plus albums to their credit. If you've ever seen them live, or if you caught Glen on one of The Swell Season's tours, you know that he can fill a room with rollicking joy, or quietly captivate thousands with a guitar and a song.

With a heart as big as his voice, Glen has contributed to many benefits and charity auctions, and has been a longtime Oxfam supporter.

SUPPORTED BY FAIRWAY MARKETEven if you're not familiar with his songs, you'll leave the Holiday Cheer for FUV concert on December 10th with his voice echoing in your ears, nodding your head and smiling. Glen is set to join a cast of musical characters including Iron & Wine, Calexico, Nick Lowe, Kathleen Edwards and more.

Here are a few Glen Hansard highlights from the FUV Vault:

FUV Live Session, 2012 (Solo)
FUV Live Session, 2010 (as The Swell Season with Marketa Irglova)
FUV Live Session, 2007 (as The Swell Season with Marketa Irglova)

p.s. Here's a YouTube version of Glen's most recent release -- a great cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Drive All Night" with Eddie Vedder. Good stuff.
