Bio

Dead Horses is a Milwaukee-based indie folk band led by Sarah Vos. The band's name alludes to the tragedy of opioid addiction, which claimed a couple of their friends, and much of their material draws on Vos's unsettled childhood as the daughter of a pastor who lost his church.

What might sound downright depressing is actually somewhat hopeful. Vos has used her songs to achieve an artful philosophical distance and empathy. "Swinger in the Trees" alludes to a Robert Frost poem, "Birches," and "American Poor" has a societal, rather than personal, perspective.
