On Deck: Broken Hand Leaves Yankees Stunned at Third

Should the Yankees Make a Deadline Deal?

Alex Rodriguez is expected to be out up to eight weeks after breaking his hand against the Seattle Mariners, and the Bronx Bombers may need a new third baseman.

With A-Rod on the disabled list, Eric Chavez will, at least for the immediate future, take on the role of third base. Chavez has played pretty well so far this year, but he hasn’t been in a consistent starting position. Will he be able to handle the day-to-day grind? The Yankees could go after someone like Chase Headley or Ty Wigginton to fill the void. Do you think they should make the move? Or is Chavez good enough to fill the gap until A-Rod returns?
