On Deck gets you ready for the final month of the regular season as Corey Miller and Matt Moro take a look at the New York Baseball scene.
The Mets enter September maintaining their lead in the NL East as the Nationals continue to struggle. But at this point it's not just the Nationals contributing to their 2nd place spot in the standings. Corey and Matt talk about how this Mets team has transformed themselves into a fun team to watch over the past month and a half with a mix of youth and veterans that seemed to be clicking. Their bats haven't quieted since the trade deadline, and the guys discuss if maybe the Metropolitans have become the team with the most depth in the MLB.
And while the story of the Mets turnaround may overshadow the Yankees' accomplishments at times, it shouldn't. The Yanks have themselves in decent playoff position with a healthy lead in the wild card standings and a deficit that isn't impossible to climb in the AL East. And while the Yanks may not be a perfect team, their biggest issue is the continued offensive dominance of the Toronto Blue Jays. Corey and Matt look into if this Yankees team has enough to hang with Toronto until the end of the season, including some possible shake ups to the lineup that could get them there.
