Governor Cuomo: "We get threats all the time"
Governor Andrew Cuomo, a leader on several controversial initiatives in New York, says he gets threats "all the time."
The Democrat says the key is to not succumb.
Cuomo has led the charge to legalize gay marriage and pass stricter gun controls, and now proposes to bolster abortion rights laws.
It was a rare discussion by a politician. Records have shown, however, that law enforcement authorities regularly investigate such threats that are often never made public.
Cuomo spoke at an event in Manhattan Friday.
He didn't detail the threats, but mentioned the gun restrictions he pushed into law after the Connecticut school massacre.
His comments came after the interception of letters containing traces of the poison ricin and a threat involving gun rights were sent to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
