Manhattan's Chinatown Hosts Own Restaurant Week

Chinatown invites diners to pull up a chair for special deals.

Manhattan’s Chinatown will kick-off its own restaurant week Friday. It will include prix-fixe meals for $18.88 at over a dozen establishments and deals at local shops.

Julie Huang grew up in Chinatown and organized the event. She says the neighborhood's economy has been sluggish ever since 9/11.  Huang says the event aims to boost the local economy and bring new visitors to the neighborhood.

“We would like everyone to treat Chinatown as their hometown because we all speak the language of food. And we would like for folks to keep Chinatown in their hearts.”

The theme of the event is “Chinatown Hearts New York City.” To see a list of participating vendors go to www.chinatownrestaurantweek.com.
