Morning Brief: February 5

The issue of net neutrality is still alive and well, with an important vote coming up later in February. The FCC chairman has proposed strict regulations for the Internet, which would prevent providers from blocking or slowing web service for countless Americans. Many net neutrality advocates fear providers will create "fast lanes" and "slow lanes" depending on how much a customer pays and how much individual websites pay them. They want the Internet to remain free and democratic. Internet providers are, of course, saying they would never create such lanes and opposing the regulations.
