Morning Brief: May 8

Mother's Day is on Sunday and it may be too late to make brunch reservations, but the city doesn't disappoint in other slightly less traditional alternatives. Coney Island's hosting a Mother's Day karaoke event and the Museum of the Moving Image is screening horror movies featuring the bond between mother and child. But of course, there's nothing wrong with just spending some quality time with mom, even if that doesn't mean going anywhere special.
