Neko Case

There is no denying that Neko Case is a force of nature. Her voice was as as clear and true as ever when she and her incomparable band took the stage at Clearwater, and broke into “Hold On, Hold On” from the 2006 album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood.

Like the animal kingdom and forests that inhabit her songs, there is something magical and wild about Neko’s music. Almost on cue, a hawk took flight over the audience during her set, and of course, she couldn’t help but watch the antics of the hawk, adding a humorous, running commentary and bantering as usual with long-time backing vocalist, Kelly Hogan.

We were treated to more than a few older favorites in the set (including the title track to 2002’s Blacklisted), balanced primarily with songs from Neko’s most recent albums, including the closer, "Man," off last year’s excellent The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You.
