New York lawmakers fight over pro-police bill

New York Republicans and police union leaders are pushing for a bill that would make throwing water on police officers a felony in the state. The effort comes after two such incidents occuring within the past two weeks. However, with Democrats in control of state government, the bill is unlikely to pass next year when the legislature is back in session. Julia Salazar, a State Senator from Brooklyn, calls the proposal hypocrtical and says she does not want to add redundant crimes to state law.
