NYC Adding Extra $155M into Parks Improvement Program
New York City is adding another $155 million into its program to improve community parks in poor neighborhoods.
The Daily News reports that a dozen additional parks are scheduled to be completely redesigned over the next 12 months. Other improvement including equipment repair is set for an additional 25 parks during the same period.
The improvements are part of a program launched by Mayor Bill de Blasio last year to redesign 35 parks. Sixty other sites targeted for minor improvements have already been completed.
The News says with total funding of $285 million, the initiative is expected to roll out dozens of other improvements to parks over the next three years.
