"Standing in the Shadows of Motown" features among others, Bob Babbitt.

They say celebs die in 'threes' and, indeed, the music world has recently lost three terrifically talented people including keyboardist Jon Lord of Deep Purple, and country music pioneer Kitty Wells.  But the least famous of the three may be the one whose work you know best:  Bob Babbitt, a Motown bass player whose work spanned decades and appeared on records from Stevie Wonder to Barry Manilow.  We'll feature your favorites in honor of this Funk Brother in today's Question of the Day.

 Here's today's playlist:

1. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" - Stevie Wonder, Signed, Sealed, Delivered

2. "Mercy, Mercy Me" - Marvin Gaye, What's Going On

3. "Every Kinda People" - Robert Palmer, Double Fun

4. "Ball of Confusion" - The Temptations, Greatest Hits
