Spero Dedes Moving on from Knicks Broadcast Booth

National Opportunities Lie Ahead

Spero Dedes will leave the Knicks' broadcast booth "to pursue national opportunities," he tells WFUV. Dedes served as the regular play-by-play announcer on the MSG Radio Network and as a backup to Mike Breen as the team's television announcer on MSG. It was a mutual decision.

"I really appreciate the opportunity that the Garden gave me," Spero said. "When I was a broadcast student at Fordham I dreamed of being an announcer for the Knicks. Not many people can say they got their dream job. I feel so fortunate. But the time came to take the next step nationally, in order to do that I needed to move on. I'm really excited about what's next."

Dedes most recently called the NCAA Tournament on CBS, where he'll continue working on College Basketball and NFL broadcasts. He's been the Knicks' play-by-play man for three years since coming over from the Los Angeles Lakers. He called the NBA Finals and worked the International Feed for the Super Bowl during his time there.
Mike Crispino remains the lone radio voice remaining with the Knicks. It's unknown whether or not he'll take over full-time duties.
