Summer Streets, a Collection of Outdoor Events, to Launch Saturday

For the next three Saturdays, officials will block car traffic in favor of free outdoor events, art exhibits.

New York City's Department of Transportation is gearing up for its annual Summer Streets events. Almost seven miles of Manhattan streets -- from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park -- will be closed off to cars the next three Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free music performances, fitness workouts and rock climbing are some of the many outdoor activities scheduled.

But perhaps the marquee event is an interactive art piece, entitled Voice Tunnel. It will, for the first time, allow New Yorkers to walk through the Park Avenue Tunnel.
