Vintage bicycles gleam in the Coney Island sun.

Summer unofficially begins.

Nostalgia is everywhere on the Coney Island Boardwalk. From creaky wooden roller coasters to elegant carousels, the sights and sounds bring out the kid in all of us.

But if you keep looking, you might see even more reminders of childhood. Tom Puglisi showed off his newly-restored 1969 Sears Spyder, a vintage bicycle with a long seat and upright handlebars—like something out of an episode of Leave it to Beaver.

“I also added a lot of extra stuff, like the rear rack here. This is a tail light, you can actually signal left or right turns,” Puglisi pointed out.

Puglisi loves riding his vintage bikes on the boardwalk. It takes him back to when he was growing up in Brooklyn.

“I come here all the time with my family. It brings back memories for me because as a kid I always came here,” added Puglisi.

Puglisi is part of a group called Brooklyn Vintage Bicycles. They plan to be here at Coney Island showing off their vintage bikes all summer.
