SXSW 2017

Sundara Karma: SXSW 2017

One of the many British guitar bands making a big mark at this year's SXSW is Reading's Sundara Karma, a rock quartet that aims for arena-worthy anthems on their arresting 2017 debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect. As a live act, they're equally impressive and FUV was happy to catch up to Sundara Karma at SXSW 2017 for an intimate duo performance at Hotel San Jose in Austin, Texas.

The Wild Reeds: SXSW 2017

The countrified lilt of classic Laurel Canyon folk rock can be discerned in the lush, slow-burning songs of the Los Angeles trio The Wild Reeds, but there's far more brewing in their tender-but-tough music, as you can hear in this FUV Live performance from Austin's Hotel San Jose during SXSW 2017.

Charly Bliss: SXSW 2017

Connecticut-bred, NYC-based four-piece Charly Bliss have been a super-fun live good time for more than a few years.  They’re set to release their full-length debut album, Guppy, in April. Leave it to FUV to catch up to a New York band in the middle of Austin, Texas, but we did, from Hotel San Jose during SXSW.

Slow Dancer: SXSW 2017

Melbourne’s Simon Okley goes by the alias Slow Dancer, a snippet of lyric from his 2014 debut, Surrender. But we wouldn’t be surprised if he’d adopted the name from a dusty Boz Scaggs album: His music has a similar dreamy quality, with smooth vocals over a subtle groove. We were very glad to catch up to Okley for a mini Slow Dancer session for FUV Live at Hotel San Jose in Austin during this year's SXSW.

Holly Macve: SXSW 2017

Raised in Galway and Yorkshire, Brighton-based singer and songwriter Holly Macve transcends those Irish-English roots for the pastoral hills of Tennessee on her debut album, Golden Eagle. We were instantly enchanted by this gifted young musician when she visited FUV's outpost at Hotel San Jose in Austin, Texas, during SXSW 2017.
