New York City Flunks Air Quality Report

Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx all get “F’s,” but the American Lung Association’s report still says air quality is improving in the Big Apple.

New York City’s air ranks amongst the dirtiest in the United States. According to the American Lung Association’s annual State of the Air report, the five boroughs have the worst air in state, with the Bronx representing the most dangerous levels of pollutants statewide. 

Elderly Care Centers Slated To Close

Governor Andrew Cuomo is proposing more than $25 million in cuts to senior services in New York City.

The fate of more than a hundred senior centers in New York City is hanging in the balance, and that has a lot of older New Yorkers concerned.  The Bloomberg administration is threatening closings because of proposed state budget cuts.

Uninsured Children Suffer From Poor Dental Health

Many people avoid the dentist's office out of fear, but some don't go because they can't afford it.

Eight percent of children in New York State are uninsured, according to a study by the Children’s Defense Fund, and many of those children are going without dental care.
