Bill would make dealers responsible for recalled cars.
New York City Council members are hoping to protect buyers from purchasing defective used cars. The Committee on Consumer Affairs held a hearing Tuesday on new legislation. It would prohibit used-auto dealers from selling a recalled car without fixing it first.

The New York City Council and two philanthropic foundations are setting aside $1.9 million to help unaccompanied immigrant children facing deportation.
The Council announced Tuesday that it is earmarking $1 million for legal representation and other services for the minors.
