BØRNS: Artist To Watch

In the spirit of music discovery which guides WFUV, our DJs offer their favorite new artists on the cusp of making it to the next level.
We first met L.A.-via-Michigan artist Garrett Borns, who records as BØRNS, this year at SXSW, where he impressed us with his pure and clear voice that effortlessly straddles octaves.
It's this opera-trained voice, combined with sparkling glam and ethereal dance-y vibes, that has held our gaze since then. There's a natural quality that inhabits his music, and it's unsurprising to learn that Borns has been an artist his entire life.
The full length debut, Dopamine, was just released in October, so 2016 could be a very busy year for BORNS.
