Cool Cats: NYC Gets First 'Cat Cafe'

A new cafe opened in Manhattan's Lower East Side on Monday, and it's good for more than just a cup of coffee.

Marty is a year-old, black-and-white, male cat that enjoys yoga mats, toy mousies, and singing -- according to his adoption profile.

He's one of the dozen or so cats you'll see roaming around New York City's new Meow Parlour.

Customers can grab a snack from the neighboring Meow Parlour Patisserie and, for a small fee, relax with some furry friends.

"Cats are becoming so cool now, with all the famous cats on the Internet," said co-founder Emilie Legrande. "I'm not sure the concept of 'crazy cat lady' is still going."

All of the cats in the cafe, and others, are up for adoption from the KittyKind adoption center.

Meow Parlour is located at 46 Hester Street and is open from noon - 8 p.m. daily, except for Wednesdays. Reservations to visit can be made here.
