The Manchester quartet Porij have recorded the perfect spring-drifting-to-summer debut album, Teething, released on the 26th of April, which smartly combines an adroit mix of playful dance bangers and emotive dreamscapes. Back in 2020, Porij, with a slightly different lineup, released their debut mixtape Breakfast, which led to the Baby Face EP.

In 2022, two band members departed, and co-founders Egg (vocals, keyboards) and bassist James Middleton invited longtime friends Nathan Carroll (drums) and Jacob Maguire (guitar) to come on board, giving Porij the path for an even deeper refinement to their sound, which led to 2022's Outlines and now, Teething.

Porij made their U.S. live debut in FUV's Studio A for this FUV Live and UKNY session; they arrived in the States to play gigs in New York, SXSW, and beyond. In addition to three songs from Teething — the singles "My Only Love" and "You Should Know Me," and a deeper track, the moving, autobiographical "Stranger" — Egg, James, Nathan and Jacob also chatted about their surreal experience of opening for Coldplay, working with producer David Wrench (The xx, Young Fathers, FKA twigs), as well as their own cherished bond as friends and bandmates. Egg also explains the personal resonance of "Stranger," their gorgeous and candid reflection on their own non-binary journey.
