Bear's Den at WFUV

Early in the cycle of recording the second Bear’s Den album, one of the trio’s founding members, Joey Haynes, amicably quit the band. Now a duo, Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones have forged on. They finished that album, Red Earth & Pouring Rain, and expanded Bear’s Den to a sextet on the road.

While there’s definitely a streak of melancholy in Bear’s Den collection of new songs, there’s also the expectation of fresh horizons and a more muscular sound. Inspired by their travels on tour and American artists and musicians like Edward Hopper, Bruce Springsteen and Don Henley, Bear’s Den reinvents itself on Red Earth & Pouring Rain.

In this FUV Live session, Andrew, better known as Davie, and Kevin talk about the band’s second chapter, second album, and a British perspective on American idealism.
