Hear The Alternate Side in Session with Emmy the Great.

Singer and songwriter Emma-Lee Moss, who records as Emmy the Great, has been nomadic of late, drifting between her longtime home base of London, her native Hong Kong, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and other locales. That peripatetic spirit has informed the new songs for her forthcoming third album, still untitled and due out late this year or early in 2016, and her new EP, out now on Bella Union, called S

The new songs also herald a change in sound and subject matter for Moss, skewing from from heartbreak of her albums, First Love and Virtue and experimenting with more electronic flourishes, as on her single "Swimming Pool" (which features Wild Beasts' Tom Fleming). Although her folk-rock underpinnings and smartly observed lyrics remain critical to her artistic persona, Moss is eager to leap into a different phase of her music.

She recently came by FUV's Studio A (accompanied by her brother as a handy backup band!) and discussed the impact of her romantic travails on her songwriting, life living out of a suitcase, the progress of her third album, and much more.
