North Carolina singer-songwriter M.C. Taylor has been recording and releasing albums under the Hiss Golden Messenger name for over a decade, and making music for another decade prior to that. With signing to Merge Records and the success of his last album, The Lateness of Dancers, came more time on the road, and the added strain of leaving his family behind to support them and simultaneously follow his dream.

The new and sixth album from Hiss Golden Messenger, Heart Like A Levee, started as a commissioned project by Duke University to create a song-cycle to accompany a set of photographs, but emerged as an honest and beautiful documentation of the past couple years. We welcome MC Taylor and his band back to Studio A, to hear a couple of these songs live, and to talk about releasing another Fall album, faith, and the influence of those photographs.
