Mt. Joy at WFUV

Back in 2016, the indie folk band Mt. Joy released a few songs into the world with modest expectations. To the band's surprise, their music started gaining traction on Spotify, racking up millions of streams. By 2017, they were on the road touring with bands like the Shins, the Head and the Heart, and the Lone Bellow.

Now, 2018 is set to be a big year for Mt. Joy as well. Led by Sam Cooper and Matt Quinn, the Philly-born, Los Angeles-based band's self-titled debut album is being released on Dualtone Records in March. Mt. Joy has also been named as an NPR Slingshot artist for this year — and the Artist of the Month for February!

They recently stopped by FUV to share some of their music, including the optimistic new single, "Silver Lining." Although the song was inspired by tragedy, it's filled with an earnest hopefulness and is bound to spark many joyful sing-a-longs.
