Rachael Yamagata at WFUV

It was ten years ago when fans were first smitten with the smoky voice of Rachael Yamagata and her debut album, Happenstance. Since then, we’ve eagerly awaited each release, and relished her steady parade of collaborations over the years with some of our favorite artists, like Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne, Bright Eyes, and Rhett Miller.

Yamagata's last album, 2011’s Chesapeake, saw her striking out on her own with a fan-funded release and a total DIY approach to her career. Five years later, Rachael Yamagata is back with another self-propelled project, perhaps her most confident and fully realized effort to date, the aptly-titled Tightrope Walker. As she discusses in this FUV Live session, Yamagata has mastered the balancing act of taking creative control and forging her own path.
