New York City's The Hot Sardines make the sort of transportive music that conjures New Orleans, Paris and Harlem, and time travels far and wide, too. Their new album, Welcome Home, Bon Voyage, is a live collection that was recorded in here in New York at Joe's Pub and also in Toronto. I was delighted to welcome the band back to WFUV.

Let me paint the picture here: It's an eight-piece band consisting of bass, drums, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, bandleader Evan "Bibs" Palazzo on piano and the always stylish Elizabeth Bougerol on vocals. As the band set up, FUV audio engineer Jim O'Hara miked a floor board for the tap dancer. Yes, the band travels with a tap dancer!

So Studio A is packed with energy on this happy edition of FUV Live as the Hot Sardines stretch out with the classic "Caravan" and "After You've Gone."
