New Music Monday Has Some Eclectic Summer Jams

by John Stein

New Music Monday is a collection of the best new releases in music each week. We share them with you every Monday, every hour on WFUV.

David Wax Museum- “Will You Be Sleeping”

David Wax Museum is known for their unusual instrumentation, they played a donkey jawbone on their first album, and their Mexican-folk leanings. This new song is the first off their new, similarly eclectic album.

Aimee Mann- “Charmer”

On this new track Aimee moves into a more pop sound. While the song has lyrically dark elements, synthesizers keep the song light. It may be different than the artist we know so well, but in many ways it works for Mann.

Divine Fits- “Would That Not Be Nice”

This new "super group" contains indie darlings Dan Boeckner, of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, and Britt Daniel, of Spoon. While the first single off their album doesn't do too much, this one is a great, accessible combination of both artists’ distinct sounds.

The Wallflowers- “Reboot The Mission”

Jakob Dylan has made a name for himself as lead songwriter in The Wallflowers, and certainly more than Bob Dylan’s son. Here he furthers his own legacy with this interesting, if somewhat strange, collaboration with The Clash’s Mick Jones.
