Question of the Day: Songs with Spoken Parts

by Corny O'Connell
A A

Today on the WFUV Question of the Day we're looking for songs in which the vocalist switches between singing and speaking. For example, in "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" Elvis Presley starts off singing before launching into a mid-song soliloquy. This could be one of the hokiest sets we play, but let's see what we come up with. Leave your suggestions in the comments below and we'll play them after 9am.

Thanks to Amy in Manhattan for the idea.

Here's what we played:

The Shangri-Las "Leader Of The Pack"

The Rolling Stones "Far Away Eyes"

Lyle Lovett "Here I Am"

Ike and Tina Turner "Proud Mary"
