Take Five with The Alternate Side: Firehorse

While Leah Siegel's day job might be as a singer for jingles and commercials, she's nurtured a solo career over the last decade, releasing two albums and an EP. In her latest guise, leading the band Firehorse, Siegel has given herself a fresh artistic start, one that's been bolstered by a song that she wrote for an award-winning Topsy Foundation public service announcement. That composition, "If You Don't Want To Be Alone,"  is included on Firehorse's debut album, And So They Ran Faster..., out now via Pledgemusic.

Both WFUV and The Alternate Side recently championed Firehorse as its local band selection for NPR's "Next Favorite Band" (coincidentally Siegel is the daughter of NPR "All Things Considered" host Robert Siegel). Leah Siegel and several of her bandmates from the album, including guitarist Steve Elliot, bassist Steve Martin and drummer Brian Wolfe, recently came by for an in-studio session, so Firehorse is featured on today's Take Five on FUV, The Alternate Side in Session (airing at 11 AM on 91.5 WNYE and The Alternate Side online), and in live performance video.
