I invited two of the artists performing in the Feb. 9, 2016 On Your Radar into Studio A for a session. Jay Hitt is a singer-songwriter who recently moved to the New York area from Pittsburgh, where he was very involved in the music. He is a careful craftsman whose songs are rich in narrative detail. In the session he was accompanied on piano by Lisa Jane Lipkin, a fine songwriter in her own right.

Villa Palagonia is the musical concept of the married musical couple, Alison Scola and Joe Ravo. Inspired by a visit to Italy, where Alison has family roots, they combine Alison's clever lyrics (sometimes in Italian) and appealing vocals with Joe's accomplished, jazz-based guitar playing to create an infectious brand of music that pushes the boundaries of folk.

They each shared their stories and played a couple of songs in this session.
