John Vanderslice: TAS In Session

San Francisco's incomparable musician and producer John Vanderslice might have one of the keenest ears in indie rock. He also happens to have a new album of his own, White Wilderness, an innovative collaboration with conductor Minna Choi's Magik*Magik Orchestra out now on Dead Oceans.

Vanderslice has juggled his own solo career with outside projects as a producer (The Mountain Goats) and recording studio owner (Tiny Telephone). He also championed Sufjan Stevens and St. Vincent early in their careers.

Always an interesting man to interview, Vanderslice offered a more stripped-down set when he dropped by Studio A, playing songs like "Overcoat" and "Convict Lake." He also spoke to The Alternate Side's Alisa Ali about the vast difference between White Wilderness and his previous work.
