Recap: Clearwater Festival 2014

What a gorgeous weekend of music, sunshine, and community at Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival.  I'm so glad we were able to broadcast all weekend from this historic and important festival.

It was a big weekend at Clearwater, with a genre-spanning lineup that drew record crowds — 25,000 music fans attended over two days to enjoy music, food, crafts and more. Clearwater has always been about more than just music with the inherent mission that Pete and Toshi founded of environmentalism, activism, volunteerism and education.

This was the first year at Clearwater without Pete and Toshi present. Their spirit and their lifelong work were surely evident. Nearly every artist acknowledged Pete and his influence. Josh Ritter told a story about how Pete changed his life when he replied to a letter a young Josh wrote to him asking for advice about becoming a songwriter. Tom Chapin opened the festival with "Midnight Special," reminding us all of Pete's message to "pass the music on." There were numerous tributes to Pete and Toshi throughout the weekend.

Our live broadcast was centered on the main Rainbow Stage, with Dar Williams, Delhi to Dublin, Rufus Wainwright, Richard Thompson and The Mavericks on Saturday. Sunday's lineup was Lake Street Dive, Josh Ritter, the David Bromberg Big Band, Martin Sexton, Puss n Boots, and Lucinda Williams.

Check out the performances in the FUV Vault and tell your friends all about it.
