Well, this has certainly been a bizarre week. Then again, most weeks fall automatically in a perplexing strange-but-true category these days. On UKNY at 11 tonight, following the fabulous Binky Griptite's three-hour odyssey "The Boogie Down," I'll have new Pixx, Ghostpoet, Four Tet, Nadine Shah and Fold tracks that either directly confront or delicately circumnavigate this chaotic year.

Also, another advance look at Maya Jane Coles' marvelous and sensual double album, Take Flight, released on August 25. And I've been thinking of Amy Winehouse too — last Sunday, July 23, marked the sixth anniversary of her untimely passing.

Away for the weekend? You can now find UKNY on demand immediately after broadcast via the Weekend Archives at wfuv.org.
