Without a doubt, my favorite discovery in recent memory is Orville Peck. With a nod to classic country music and an absolutely amazing voice, Peck has crafted a truly unique debut album called Pony. Add in the long fringe masks that he seemingly wears at all times and you have one intriguing new artist.

Not surprisingly, I couldn’t wait for the opportunity to have him up to the Bronx for a session in Studio A and he solidified his status as an artist to watch. We talked about the impact those masks have had on his songwriting, his feeling on the evolution of country music, and lots more.

Check out that conversation, as well as killer live versions of “Dead of Night” and “Turn to Hate.”
