NYC Museum Considering Opening on Mondays
The MoMA may start opening all-week.
New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is considering staying open seven days a week.
It would be the first time in more than 40 years that it would also be open on Monday. A final decision to reopen next July will be made in coming months.
Director Thomas Campbell told The New York Times
that the Met turns away thousands of visitors every Monday who believe it's open.
The museum started closing on Mondays in 1971 to save money.
But now, Campbell says, the city's rising tourism has brought more visitors to the museum.
A record-breaking 6.3 million people visited the Met in the fiscal year that ended in June. That's more than 600,000 than the year before.
