One on One's NFL Friday: Week 12, 2013
Kenny Ducey and Nolan Silbernagel host this week's NFL Friday where they discuss the upcoming matchups for the Giants and Jets, the latest incarnation of Manning vs. Brady, and who to start on your fantasy team.
Kenny and Nolan kick off the show by talking about the Saints' Thursday night win over the Falcons. In light of Atlanta dropping to 2-9, why have they struggled so much this season after coming within a quarter of reaching the Super Bowl in 2012? On New Orleans' side, do the Saints play well enough on the road to be able to win in the playoffs?
They then move on to the Jets, who are coming off a tough loss at Buffalo in a game they were expected to win. How long will the alternating pattern of wins and losses continue? Will it hold true this week in on the road at Baltimore? Kris Venezia weighs in with his weekly Jets report. The guys also spark an interesting debate: How similar has Geno Smith's rookie year been to Mark Sanchez's in 2009? Is this an encouraging sign, or a cause for concern?
The guys discuss the Giants next, who welcome Dallas to town in one of the week's marquee matchups. Can they continue their run to win their fifth straight game? Or will Dallas, who is at .500 after spending much of the season's first half in first place, find a way to win on the road and tie Philadelphia atop the NFC East? As always, Eric Mollo contributes his weekly Giants report.
Kenny and Nolan then move on to other stories around the NFL. They weigh in on Ahmad Brooks' hit on Drew Brees last week, which earned him a personal foul penalty and a fine from the league. They also preview Sunday night's showdown between the Broncos and the Patriots. Wes Welker returns to New England for the first time as a Bronco. How well will he perform in his old home?
Bobby Gubin joins the show for his weekly fantasy picks, discussing who to start and who to sit this week. He and the guys also discuss the emergence of Tampa Bay running back Bobby Rainey as a fantasy star.
Finally, everyone makes their predictions in this week's staff picks.
